Find Your Inner Calm in Stress Awareness Month

Fioretti is a Multi Academy Trust and here in our primary schools in Birmingham we pride ourselves on nurturing our team to help them be the best they can be. We want our staff to have the confidence to help our pupils grow, and this means we work hard to create supportive and progressive environments for all to work in.

Our schools collaborate to ensure that when the going gets tough, there's plenty of space to breathe, and feel supported. Educators can access Headspace for free, a mindfulness and meditation app offering guided exercises, breathing techniques, sleep support, and stress-relief tools to help them feel more balanced and present each day.

We've put together our top ways of minimising the impact of stress and avoiding burnout. What else would you add?

    Top 5 Stress Busting Techniques
1 - Get Moving!  Being more physically active is a great way to quickly boost your endorphins, so it's way more beneficial than just being good for your heart. Exercising is good for your soul too.
2 - Meditate.  Even just 5 minutes of mindful thinking or listening to soothing sounds is a good way to relax your mind and give you a sense of calm and balance.  There are lots of apps you can download to help you get started, and make use of any quiet time you have, like when walking the dog or asking your family to give you some space to mediate at home.
3 - Max out on your 5-a-day.  Eating more fruits and vegetables is a winner for taking care of yourself.
4 - Laugh more.  This might sound obvious, but letting yourself go and seeing the funny side is a great way to feel good.  Let's face it, there's no end of funny stuff to laugh at in school!
5 - Embrace the sound of music.  How about starting the day with a song in class or banging on some bongo drums to get you and the whole class smiling?
