Solicitor Philip Wood joins the Trust Board
Tue 06 Dec 2022We are delighted to welcome Philip Wood to the Trust Board from 6th December 2022. Philip brings a wealth of experience to the Trust as you will see from his pen-portrait below:
Philip is a solicitor specialising in education law at Browne Jacobson LLP. He has over ten years of experience in advising a range of institutions including schools, academies, local authorities, and universities. He works with a huge variety of education institutions, from the largest trusts in the Country to single schools, and that variety means that he is able to provide learning and experience from one to the other. Philip was previously the advice manager for the National Governance Association, advising and training schools on everything from exclusions to strategic thinking. As part of his role at NGA, he was part of the group that developed various editions of the Academy Trust Handbook and the DfE’s admissions working group that looked at changes to the Admissions Code. Archbishop of York Youth Trust Young Leader's Award - Year 4 Children Leading the Way
Thu 21 Apr 2022Year 4 children in each of the Fioretti Trust primary schools were the first pupils within the Diocese of Birmingham to take part in the Archbishop of York Youth Trust Young Leaders Award this year.
The aim was for the Young Leaders Award to facilitate stronger links with the schools’ local churches as part of the Church of England’s Growing Faith Initiative.
“Growing Faith promotes a partnership between the three communities of Church, School and Household to enable the discovery, exploration and growth of faith for all in those communities”.
The children explored leadership skills, engaged in personal challenges to help those around them and delved into stories of inspirational leaders whilst considering their place in their local, national and global communities.
The children also organised community action projects to meet needs in their local area. For example, the children at St. Barnabas C of E School worked with their local church and a local initiative ‘Erdington Litter Busters’ on a litter pick. It was fabulous to see younger and older generations working together and for the children to recognise the ability they have to change the mindsets of others. The children proudly presented their work on 4th March at the Diocese of Birmingham’s Annual Schools Senior Leadership Conference held at Birmingham City Football Ground.
Emma Jones, Ethos Champion for Fioretti Trust said:
“The project has enabled the children to see their community with fresh eyes, with hope that they can become agents of change…it has enabled our children to have a greater and deeper understanding of the role of the church in the community and to work in partnership with them in a new and exciting way. We hope to inspire the children to become grown ups who see people’s needs and think that they are empowered, they can make a difference in people’s lives”.

Fioretti Trust Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Party
Thu 17 Feb 2022In April 2021 the Church of England published 'Lament to Action', the report of the Archbishop's Anti-racism Taskforce. Following the Trustee's reflections and discussions on the report, they have resolved to set up a working party to engage with governors, staff and parents/carers on issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. The working party will meet half-termly, virtually initially, but hopefully moving to face to face meetings in the future. If this is something you are interested in or you have skills and experience in this area that you can contribute, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with our Head of Operations, Emma Washbourne, at hello@fiorettitrust.co.uk. We hope to hear from you soon.
